Olympic flight from Salt Lake City to arrive Tuesday afternoon at Schiphol Airport
Flight KL 610, operated with Boeing 747-400 equipment, is currently scheduled to land at Schiphol on Tuesday, February 26, at 14:15 hrs CET and will be marshaled to the gate by former Olympic speed-skating champion Yvonne van Gennip.
The flight will carry the full Dutch Olympic contingent of athletes, officials and support staff, along with many sports journalists. The flight will also carry groups of Norwegian and Greek Olympic visitors returning from the Games, who will transfer to onward flights at Schiphol.
Inflight service on board KL 610 will bear a special Olympic character, created jointly by Catering Inflight Services and TV program NOS Studio Sport. The program`s staff will be organizing interviews, reports, and live coverage for radio and television during the flight and on arrival.
Preceding and during the Games themselves, KLM Cargo created an intensive ground transportation network for the Dutch Olympic Committee, and arranged trucking services between Calgary and the venue of the Games in Salt Lake City. Two cargo staffers, one from KLM Cargo in Calgary and one from Northwest Cargo in Salt Lake City, both stationed on a temporary basis, took care of the logistics for the operation.
KLM Ground Services has organized the handling of the special Olympic flight in Utah and the Netherlands.
