The Republic of Turkey is a Eurasian country with its Eastern and Western traits. It also spans two continents. The seas which surround the country on three sides are the Black Sea, the Aegean and the Mediterranean. Turkey has borders with Georgia, Armenia, Nakhichevan nd Iran to the east, Bulgaria and Greece to the west and Iraq and Syria to the south. Throughout history, Turkey, due to her location, her important strategic position, and her extensive coastline which make her a neighbor to the entire world, has been an epicenter of major trade and migration routes. 

The region of Cesme has a typical Mediterranean climate and is a wonderful destination all year round. Although the summer months are from April to October, the area is blessed with the cooling Imbat breeze, which blows off the Aegean Sea, so even the hottest months of July and August are really quite pleasant.

The bus system between Cesme and Izmir - Turkey’s third largest city is convenient and well organized with buses plying every 15 minutes from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Cesme, the port of Erythrai, was known as Cyssus in Ancient Times. Historically Cesme was both an important sea port and the home to famous wine producers of the Aegean region.

Few countries can boast of the lure of a place that is a natural combination of healing mineral springs, pristine beaches, and azure waters with green fields in the backdrop. Cesme, a unique village located on the Aegean coast, 80 kms. west of Izmir, is one such Turkish destination well known for its abundant healing springs and thermal waters.

Cappadocia is easily accessible by bus from anywhere in Turkey. By train, it is slower and uncomfortable and these trains run from Istanbul and Ankara to Kayseri and Nigde. There are connecting flights of the Turkish Airlines, which connect Istanbul with Kayseri (daily) and Nevsehir (Tuzkoy airport) twice on a weekly basis.

Avanos is a place in Cappadocia, which is famous for its pots. Intricate and beautiful, these pots make excellent memorabilia. Other attractive sets are mugs, ashtrays, ornate plates and chess sets.

When you visit Cappadocia do take a taste of its cereals, potatoes and wine. But the fruits of this region are said to be the best in all of Turkey because of the pigeon droppings.

The best part about staying in Cappadocia is its cave hotels and inns supplied with all the modern amenities of the civilized world. It is a wonderful conglomeration of the ancient and the contemporary.

Other places of interest are the Zelve Valley, Avanos (pottery and carpets), Ürgüp, Ihlara valley, Soganli, Sinasos and Hacibektas.
